About Jerry Abend
Jerry has been doing ceramics for over 15 years. During this time he developed his wheel throwing, handbuilding, glazing, and raku techniques. You can see examples of his work at www.etsy.com/shop/PotsByJerry.
Jerry has taught classes for children where they discover the fun of working with clay. They learn various ceramics techniques such as pinch pots and slab work, and can sculpt clay into functional objects such as mugs, lanterns, and serving platters. Older participants may also be introduced to the principles of using potter wheels.
Jerry is a counselor for the Boy Scouts’ Pottery & Sculpture merit badges. Also, he has taught sessions for Brownies and Girl Scouts who are pursuing the Ceramics and Clay badge.
