About Ken Maloney

Ken likes to think of himself as a lifelong creator, observer and constructor. He’s been a Resident Artist at ClaySpace since 2013. In that time he’s been tasked with heavy lifting, stubborn lid removal, retrieval of items on high shelves, and, most importantly, teaching beginning and intermediate level throwing. He’s a big fan of well-crafted, beautifully glazed, yet highly usable utilitarian pottery, the type of pottery that you can incorporate into your daily world.

Ken hold a BFA in graphic design from Ball State University as well as an honorary degree from the “college of 10,000 pots”.  His work has been displayed in several gallery shows, art fairs, and in his Etsy shop at

He is blessed to live in Downers Grove with his awesome kid and his oh so talented (and fellow Resident Artist) wife, Deana. When he is not shaping clay, or the minds of his students, he runs a construction company that builds playgrounds.  He possesses an immense amount of patience, a ridiculous capacity to recall song lyrics, and the ability to fillet a walleye in 45 seconds.
